  1. Activity 1:
    a. What does it mean to be a digital citizens or netizens?

Ans:I feel that being a netizen is just to know more about the world around you.Although it is true that we have the freedom of speech, but it is wrong to make hurtful comments.

    b. Do values like respect and responsibility exist in Cyber space? Why?

Only some parts of the cyber space have these values. Most of the cyber space have the "freedom of speech" and usually make hurtful comments as they are behind the screens and they think no one will know that he/she is doing it.
    Activity 2:
    a) Breaching security & Phishing
    b) No, not really
    c) Do not give personal particulars, have a anti-virus and do not reveal IP addresses.

    1. Sorry if it was a bit lengthy but they are just answers

  2. 1a. It means to be able to fully utilise the functions and capabilities of the Internet and be able to follow the etiquette placed. A digital citizen must be responsible for his actions on the Internet

1b. They may not exist in cyberspace as certain websites and countries allow freedom of speech. With those capabilities, a person may use it to stir feelings of hate and anger. Discrimination may happen and they do not respect a person or a particular race. Many people are also not responsible for their actions, as many enjoy hacking and disrupting the peace of the Internet.

2a. Netizens face malware infecting their computers, hackers gaining access to websites and disrupting them and phishing, where users are tricked into giving their confidential information.

2b. Yes, I have. Once a person tried to send my mum an email with a very intriguing content. It said that the email had to be downloaded in order to be able to view it. It turned out to be a virus. The email actually manipulates users into opening them and the users would get infected.

2c. We must be vigilant and always on the look out for suspicious software and things on the Internet. We must be also be aware of the dangers and thus we are able to identify them much easier.

  3. 1a) It means to be a responsible user of the internet who abides by the netiquette rules.
1b) Not all users on the internet demonstrate respect and responsibility as they are often practicing 'freedom of speech' and often respond in an uncivilized manner.

    2a) Phishing, malware and hackers
2b) Yes. My father's computer was once infected by virus and it slows down and will switch off by itself.
2c) Use anti-virus software and do not visit foreign website.

  4. 1a) It means to communicate via cyberspace with proper internet etiquette and to surf the internet safely and wisely.
1b)Yes they do. Cyberspace should be treated as if it was in real life and we should not abuse internet. We should be responsible for what we do on the internet and we have to respect other users of the internet.

2a) They are phishing (when people are told to put in their confidential information), malware (which infects the computer and slows it down or steal information from the computer) and hackers (people who hack into computer systems to gain confidential information).
2b) Yes, my first computer was infected with a virus which turned the whole screen upside down, displayed a 'virus' background, and it had to be formatted in order to fix it.
2c) We should not trust everything on the internet. People should check to make sure that the particular software or files are safe and they can install antivirus softwares on their computer. We should also not be curious about suspicious things and we should dispose of suspicious emails immediately upon seeing it.

  5. 1a) It means to be someone who uses the internet so as to do certain activities of their preference.

1b) Values like respect and responsibility exist in Cyber space. It is because, in order to 'live in the cyberworld', one must respect others and must take responsibility of what they do. By respecting others, it means to not cyberbully them. Cyberbullying consists of spamming, happy slapping e.t.c. When that happens, the person might be so depressed that he/she will have suicidal thoughts, suffer from depression e.t.c. Furthermore, by taking responsibility means to know/ be aware of what you should not do on the web. Otherwise, if you have for example, cyberbullied someone, talk bad about someone, the consequences would be severe, especially if the person whom you are targeting finds out about it, and is strong enough to report you.

2a) Compter is hacked and thus cheated of money, personal information is received by others illegally , receiving of viruses which will harm your computer.

2b) Yes. One of my friend's facebook account was being disabled for no apparent reason. Most likely, someone had hacked into his account and did certain illegal things or, someone reported his posts as spam a couple of times. The nature of some cyber dangers is that they will cause harm to your computer as well as to yourself.

2c) Netizens should install protective software to protect their computers. They shpuld also refrain from getting out of the sites which requires their particulars to get some free stuff( or so the sie states).

  6. 1a) It means to be a user of the internet
1b)Yes, they do. Cyberspace is created by humans, thus basic human values such as courteously and responsibility do exist and must be followed and obeyed at all times.
2a) Phising, Malware, DDOS attacks, Scamming and trojan are all dangers that they face every time they log in to the net. But all this dangers can be prevented by being a smarter citizen of the net-(all this programs can only take root if you access them unknowingly)
2b)Yes, there was once where I was notified by facebook that some unknown fool tried accessing my facebook from Japan. Luckily, he did no succeed and I change my password at once. The nature of this attacks are that they can cause harm to you without you even noticing and when you noticed, the damage is done and you have to suffer as a result.
2c) Nowadays, even if you installed anti-virus software, you computer may not be 100% safe, although the percentage will be higher. This is due to the fact that many different kinds of malicious software are being coded everyday and you anti-virus software may not be able to catch up to the progress of this malicious software. They are also some kinds of dangers the anti-virus software can't protect you from, such as phising. The software cannot stop you from entering your bank account particulars, they can only warn you. If you refuse to listen, you have to suffer the consequences.
